Celebration of Three Decades of Casa Real with La CAV Members
18 de May de 2026
An experience that forms part of a series of international gatherings dedicated to exploring the journey and evolution over time of this benchmark of Chilean winemaking, crafted exclusively in exceptional vintages since 1989.
As part of the celebration of 30 vintages of Casa Real, one of Chile’s great Cabernet Sauvignons, Viña Santa Rita welcomed members of the Club de Amantes del Vino (La CAV) on Wednesday, May 13, for an exceptional event dedicated to honoring the legacy of this Alto Maipo icon.
The gathering featured the participation of Ana María Barahona, Director of La CAV; Baltazar Sánchez, President of Viña Santa Rita; Sebastián Labbé, Winemaker of Casa Real; and Elena Carretero, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director, who shared their insights into the wine’s origin, history, and evolution.
The experience included a tour through the winery’s vineyards in Alto Jahuel, Parque Centenario, and Capilla Santa Rita, along with a tasting of the 2005, 2015, and 2022 vintages. Later, during a wine-paired dinner held at Hotel Casa Real, guests tasted the 1997, 2009, and 2021 vintages, appreciating the wine’s evolution, depth, and character through time.
Since its first vintage in 1989, Casa Real has established itself as an undisputed benchmark among Latin America’s fine wines. It is the only Chilean icon wine crafted entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon since its origin, representing the purest expression of this variety.
Its essence is born from a historic 20-hectare vineyard located in the Carneros Viejo and Población de Alto Jahuel sectors, planted on original rootstocks during the 1970s and 1980s. These old vines, derived from massal selection and ungrafted, yield grapes of exceptional quality that faithfully express the richness of Chile’s finest terroir for the variety.
During the dinner, attendees also enjoyed wines from the high-end Colección de Origen range, including Gran Chiriquí 2023, Floresta Sauvignon Blanc 2024, and Floresta Field Blend Blanco 2023 — labels that reflect the diversity and enological richness of their origins.
A celebration that transcends borders and that, in Chile, is experienced exclusively alongside a community that today forms part of a milestone in the winery’s history.
